Trade show Maison et objet

The French Trade Show for the Home Decoration, Giftware and Tableware industries Maison et objets in Paris was in september. Trends were still on natural materials allied with the charms of nomadism and ethnic, the requirements of fair trade and sustainable development.

My eyes were attracted to the suspensions floating around in the air in perforated metal, such as the arabic inspired lights from Zenza, but also the japanese inspired in paper, fabric, rope ...

For the furniture my favorite were wooden pieces with clean lines and decorative nature and natural as Bleu nature and Ethnicraft were elegantly staged and beautifully lit, as the sign Honoré from the south of France Marseille.

Listed tissue heart for the Indian Jaipur prints of Nayika.

In the kids corner, Petit Pan was a hit by its scenery in a trapper's cabin to present their new fabrics "Wild West".

Also printed colorful pop from the Dutch brand Lief ...

To finish with my last crush for the designer Cécile Princ and her fabulous brand Nûr Gallery of home made clouds, stars... magic atmosphere for your interior.

Spring Wall borders

Two great French brands that we love Mimi, Lou and Fifi Mandirac have presented their stickers' collection at the Parisian fair Maison et Objet in January.

This is the logical continuation of her previous collections that Mimi Lou has drawn : delicate small birds and their nests and new wall borders to stick according to your desire, your mood.

Wall Borders also for the first stickers' collection from Fifi Mandirac.

Edited by Poisson Bulle, she joined the French illustrators for children that we love as Annelore Parrot or Bianca Gomez for a collection full of fantasy and quality.

The new edition of Papier Mache magazine reports on the beautiful work of Jess Brown
In her workshop she makes hand-made dolls using old cashmere sweaters, fabrics and antique remnants.
At the beginning her creations were for her son and daughter, then for her friends, special occasions and now sold in her shop in California.

At the beginning there was a shop in Marseille offreing a range of bed linen, towels and table wear, lighting, ceramics, household linen, a selection of hand crafted objets made from cedar and lemon tree wood, elliptical wicker lampshades… . The place was not only a shop but also a space offering a tearoom, exhibitions of photographs or painters... a kind of place to be and to visit.
Now the brand has opened in the heart of the french city a small hotel launched by Annick Lestrohan of Honoré brand. The house is likely a riad, articulated around a swimming pool.
Each of the 4 rooms has its own colors and decorations ! let's try them all !

In the French TV show Interieurs, a challenge was launched for 3 decorators: create a space for a baby in a tiny corner of the apartment.The 3 atmospheres are so full of tricks:

Small spaces full of ideas

The new Milk magazine is out ... in its pages I always find beautiful pictures of fashion and decoration for kids. Here 4 examples of children's rooms full of ideas to maximize small spaces.
The cute sleeping corner for Zoe found a place in the room of her big sister Lilou with a few simple tips: a curtain to separate them, a hand made bed resting on storage space, a folding changing table. Added some little decorative touches to this minimalist space : a bed cover from Petit Pan, the pink butterfly net and small stars stickers.
Another idea to share a room: a fun wall that allows two small boys to play in a common area and separate them when they need tranquility!

Another way to maximize small spaces and for the older ones: the bed-cabin which let them enjoy a small playground on the ground.
I love this last room with Asian influence in its prints and its cushions. The simple furnishings are highlighted by the range of shades of plum.

Bonton a tout bon !

The new spacious store for kids Bonton just opened in Le Marais in Paris ... a few meters from its big brother Merci, another huge store dedicated to the decoration.

It includes the collection of children's clothing, but also Bonton Bazar (decoration and accessories), Bonton baby, Papillon, the very chic collection and a cofee shop!
This new parisian store is another predictable and deserved success for the Cohen family. Here Irene is in control, the step-daughter of Marie-France and Bernard, former owners of Bonpoint and founder of the concept store adjacent Merci.

The place was designed by architect Valerie Mazerat. She has preserved the old details of the building and has magnified them (moldings, fireplaces, chandelier), and mixed them with vintage furniture to give to the place a loft atmosphere ... the atmosphere and the scenography is magical!

800m ² for the pleasure of the eyes ... may be less for your credit card!

French decoration shows in Paris

End of January were held in Paris Playtime and Maison et Objet decoration shows launching new 2010 trends for our interiors.
At Playtime, dedicated to the world of the children, the ethnic chic, ecological and multiplication of new french brands trends were still valid.
I admired it on the blogosphere and identified, in particular, stands from two little brands Noix de coc' and les petites emplettes. Their collections offer bedding linens and supplies for kids small rooms. A playful, fresh, bright and colorful 2010 collection for Noix de coc and spontaneous, authentic and natural for Les petites emplettes.
The exhibition demonstrated once again that the decoration for kids grows from year to year and left the pink and blue layettes aside for brightful universe now.

The "path of influence" of the Maison et Objet fair was cut in three stages: "transculturation," "cooperative," "Hybrid".
For Elizabeth Leriche, Director of her own style office, member of the Maison et Objet Observatory and interrogated by the blog of the show, the mix of cultures was noticeable this year, " with collections resulting from an exchange between western designers and craftsmen, including bringing African culture and know-how. Like the collection of Tord Boontje in collaboration with Senegalese craftsmen for the company Moroso.

"The design of this collection, in which other designers have participated, is certainly European, but the forms are inspired by African culture as textiles. The same goes with the chair by Konstantin Grcic, which uses the expertise of master craftsmen and bamboo and enriches their experience. There is a real exchange", underlines Elizabeth Leriche ... and impressed we are by the result!

Next week in Paris will open one of the largest gatherings of French designs in decoration: the Maison et Objet fair, followed the next weekend by the Playtime exhibition dedicated to the world of the child.

The French brands often compete with their great ideas for the installation of their stands, the exhibition of their collection ...
This year the beauty of their work is already in the invitations and give particular desire to explore their new collections.
Thanks to Polder-April showers we are traveling in their bucolic pictures, Atelier LZC make us discover their new colorful patterns, Minilabo has made a little theater with one on their felt doll .. and the little new ones, Georges et Rosalie and Lale will show collections which sound very promising... perhaps soon on Comptoir d'enfance.

Decorative drops

In few weeks spring is coming and will bring its drops and clouds. But we will be prepared because they already are at home.
Mademoiselle sous la pluie from Blanca Gomez is walking on the walls. The nimbus lamp from PA design gives a fairy lighting in the rooms.

I dream since a few months reading the French blog Vivre a la campagne ... I like her philosophy, her atmosphere from the south of France, the home made decorations...

So I fell in love with this little homemade dinette, with a small bottle of milk redecorated, small cooking ustensils like Mom found at Ikea ... all nicely packed in a crate of fruits from the farmers market, painted in pink.

A great gift for Christmas !

Another lovely dinette created by the french artist Nathalie Lete.
She lives and works in paris. She mixes different techniques and mediums, illustrations, ceramics,textile and painting…
She is inspired by her travels, but also by the mixing of vintage toys and old engravings of flowers and animals. Her work is colourful, "naive and poetic, sometimes strange, to the point of tending towards art brut", as she defines it. Her world is nurtured by popular and folk art. She produces children’s and graphic’s books, knitted and stuffed toys, glass pictures, patterned dishes and this lovely dinette.
In a Cardboard suitcase, the dinette set contains 14 pieces of metal: a small plate, kettle, 4 small cups and saucers and 4 plates. All very nicely illustrated by Nathalie Lete.

She also creates exclusive pieces for stores such as Anthopologie like postcards,ceramic sculptures, silkscreen... in limited edition…

Madame M opened her pottery studio in France last year .. Since she multiplies creations, unique pieces, small bowls, ornaments, jewelry and more recently a small dinette. Her "influences are very diverse, the aesthetics of Japanese, traditional Scandinavian design through nature, its forms and fruit, and the new generation of ceramists French or foreigners ..." as she defines them.
She prefers "pure porcelain and white stoneware, simple shapes and irregular, containers and jewelry, working alone ... away from" perfection "of industrial and consumer system environment. "...

This beautiful dinette porcelain is like the rest of her collection ... Full of delicacy and poetry. It includes 6 small plates, large cup, bowl and spoon, a pot and its lid. The whole is shaped and created with care in very small series in France. Each piece is unique. The dinette is delivered packed in bubble wrap and tissue paper in a closed cardboard box with a ribbon of white cotton and a label.
Refinement from A to Z for the pleasure of the eyes and little hands!

The moms will be able to enjoy their tea and little cakes in those beautiful sandstone bowls and mini cups ... After all there is no age for a small dinette!

In the south west of France Olivia started her small business of restoring vintage furniture ... "les happy vintage" as she calls them. After having sanded, repainted, magnified chairs, school desks, cabinets or toys, she adds a little personal note as these small stars, one of her favorite motifs.

At home she wanted for herself and her daughters softness. Softness of its home-made garlands in linen, softness of the colors such as the candy pink on the walls and illuminated by retro cushions from Petit Pan and lanterns hanging for a cozy reading corner!

The trendy magazines for children are dreamy ... also in Australia where Papier Mache has released its special issue on decoration ! Lucky you: you do not need to fly thousands of miles to get it, since it is downloadable here.
You can begin your little world deco tour by the Bedroom of Scout in Australia. I like the special places dedicated to her drawings, especially on her door covered with chalkboard paint ...

After that let's go to belgium to the home of Morgane, the founder of Little circus.
Her interior for her children Eliott and Reinette is like her blog: friendly, vintage and very warm.

Each season has its small pleasures ... in November these are the early preparations for Christmas ... and among them the advent calendar ...

The home made are the most personnal ones with small containers to hide each morning of December little surprises ... Above the pretty calendars from the blogger fee maison. or from the French magazine Marie Claire idees which proposes to download the templates and tags. It's easy and pretty.

Below are two ideas proposed by the French Magazine maison et travaux to hang up the little presents: a pasta drier and small magnet figures on a chalkboard.

A room to share

How to create space when the new little brother or sister arrives and we do not have an extra room ? Here are three solutions adopted by ingenious parents and proposed on the website of the French magazine Marie-Claire maison.

Angela and Oscar share a room (above) but still enjoy a personal corner. Angela's bed has been raised and bordered by a security in iron. The green canopy, decorated with small flags, separates the two toddlers.

For their children, Pan and Miriam, the creators of Petit Pan, wanted a room fun and colorful like their collection. Pan has built a cabin painted in white with rounded corners and pierced with small windows where each of his 3 children, found his place. Above the mezzanine, a large bed, decorated with bed linen and cotton pillows of their collection may also serve as a vast sofa to greet friends.

Practical and fun, this cabin room also serves as a storage cupboard with two doors and a playroom area furnished with a sofa and a mushroom lamp.

Another idea: create small rooms separated by a piece of furniture and painting them in different colors. For Sasha and Nico, it has created two single rooms with a bookshelves as a wall .

Each boy has his own corner and can store toys and books. The furniture has been repainted in a very bright yellow. Small squares of fabric with floral Japanese draws were fixed to decorate and separate.

Moreover, to create harmony in the corner of Sasha, his wall and his bed were painted in the same nice green and the other bed was painted in black, giving it a more modern look.

A few extra touches of color are made by a carpet, cushions and bedspreads, a box and a mushroom lamp!!

sweet French little shops, sweet atmospheres

It is not only in interior design magazines that you can find beautiful interiors and sources of inspiration but also in the staging of shops ... and children ones in particular. A new one opens everyday in France and it's hard to choose!

But here are two to which I return often.: Charivari Workshop in Rouen and Loulou addict in Paris.

At Loulou addict, the little children's corner is full of wonders: cushions and linens fron April showers, les petites emplettes... and many small objects from European brands such as the Danish Rice or the French designer Mariette Jonbaz ...

In l'atelier Charivari in Normandy, vintage furniture and furnishing are beautifully restored with charming small fairies from Des pieds des Ailes, to the knitted animals from Anne-Claire Petit (available in the USA at Anthropologie) and the linens from April showers... a small and beautiful world !

Family home atmosphere

A young couple has chosen to expand his Paris apartment by adding the one upstairs. Their new interior, which can be visited on French magazine Marie-claire Maison, website, has become like a family home. The industrial tones of the decoration mix with the soft tones of the paintings.
For the girl of the house, the pink wall is highlighted by a silver branch sticker. The bed from Ikea has been repainted in chocolate to match with the color palette. The soft shades of pink of the night table and the purple of the silk cover by Serendipity, offer a poetic and elegant atmosphere.

In the boy's room, the desk designed by an architect runs along the wall. It has been painted in the same chocolate color like the wall for a brown harmony. The wall has been prepared with a magnetic paint so that the magnetic letters can be fixed on it. Toy fish by Alexander Calder .

In the parents' room, the concrete floor lightly shaded in gray, brings a modern touch to the walls and the old chimney. The quilt on the bed is from Caravane chambre 19 ..

Upstairs the universe is totally dedicated to children with a family room in which a XL sofa takes place in the heart of the room. In front of the sofa, a glass table by Conran shop around which children play and draw. The family atmosphere upstairs fits perfectly with the loft-like industrial atmosphere of the ground-floor .

the 2 Z bedroom

Zephir and Zadig, both Z, are two happy boys in this fun bedroom and vitamin designed by their mother.
I have been able to discover on her blog Cardamone this vintage and colorful atmosphere.

A wardrobe, a magazine rack and shelves found on flea markets set the tone.

The beds were found at our favorite Swedish shop as the duvet cover. They were painted with a grey painting from Farrow & Ball. The antique bed offers a peaceful seating for a reading corner.

An incredible view on the roofs of Paris with a minimalist and chic interior : this is how Amelia Bethia-Gillier could define her new apartment.

The former artistic director of Zadig and Voltaire embarked on a new adventure: the creation of her own brand LoveMilla with vintage, romantic and luxurious clothes.

Her apartment is a reflection of her new life.

The huge windows overlook the Luxembourg Gardens and give the impression of a dive in the sky of Paris.

The whole apartment can enjoy this view thanks to large openings in the living room, sliding doors installed in the kitchen and dining room.
The furniture are minimalist to let the space opened and were selected from Christian Liaigre.

A photo of Jean-Baptiste brings a touch of color in the kitchen.

More intimate atmosphere in the bedroom lined with silk taupe and some of her models hanged as pieces of decoration.

The new French magazine Milk arrived in France and in California on my computer! A big bravo to the writers for the Deco pages.

I adore visiting the homes of others and especially their kids ones. So this issue on French kids bedrooms decorated by their parents also designers is a gift !
Carlotta, the daughter of Madelon, one of the two creative sisters of April Showers collection, can enjoy the sweet creations of her Mom as her blankets to sleep at night and a fun and colorful day with a simple and charming decor.
Her desk is a board painted with fuchsia, the little chair in chocolate color. Miffy doll, idol of Carlotta, found refuge in the bedroom such as the hooves from Holland, the native country of the family.

In Ophelie Esteve home the atmosphere is bohemian. I just love this little shop and stove made for her daughter Luna.

Let's stay in the pink atmosphere with Brune and Fleur's bedroom.

Their mother Estelle has designed for them a unique room with sliding doors and hand-made furniture which can quickly store girls'toys . To complete this little cocoon, nice touches here and there such as the pink shelf and photo holder by Conran Shop, the lighting garland by Tsé et Tsé for habitat, a retro apron by petit Pan and a Barbapapa character to watch the kids..

Change of scene and atmosphere for the boys with Antoine's bedroom in London.
The shades of red and khaki and the steel of the cabinet coexist harmoniously.

After Céleste, two other children returning from few years in Asia, have been offered a new bedroom In Paris.
For her "cherries", as she named her kids, Lise has concocted a world collecting furniture from flea markets, design furniture and furniture from French retail stores painted and accessorized by small delicate details.

Above the vintage furniture : cupboard, desk, chair and a commode all painted in various grays..

The beds from AMPM have also been painted in gray, in the same tones as the walls,
Ikea black shelf welcomes kids treasures enlightened by a pink mushroom lamp,

It's back to school time! For her first day of school, Celeste has got a new little nest nicely decorated by her mom Morgane.
It's a blend of the latest trends in French decoration and home-made furniture for a very cozy interior!
First of her good choices the wallpaper with a retro feel by ISAK.

The alcove and the cupboards were made by her father ... very handy! Maybe he will inspire some others!
A small blue mushroom lamp grew on a shelf.
Inside the alcove the bed is from AMPM, from the same collection that the pink bookshelves.

The other walls are painted with "embruns" (Dulux Valentine) and highlight the small school desk.
Small garlands fly here and there.

The small tepee from Petit Collin creates a corner where the dolls have also their beautiful furniture.

No one has been forgotten in this fairy bedroom and certainly not Celeste!

Maison et objet Fair

This week was held in Paris, Maison et Objet fair, one of the most popular and expected fair in French decoration. An opportunity for me to find some of my favorite artists and discover some new features.
Thanks to the French bloggers fee maison, lao sur la colline and Marie-claire maison I could visit some stands on their blogs!
The very good surprise in the children section is the new collection of furniture by la chaise longue as this little school desk in light wood and metal painted in pastel shades ... an excellent value for those who, like me, have not the courage to fix a previous model found in a flea market.

Another good surprise was to realize that the furniture from Laurette, that I could admire at the Parisian showroom of AIRDEJE last summer, had their own stand.

A great opportunity to admire her collection of furniture inspired by the 40s, 50s with poetic names such as "Buffet gourmand", "Parisian wardrobe "" trailer bed "or" bedside secrets".

Fine furniture still in the retro spirit also with the famous brand Bonton.
In each collection you will find a bed, a highchair, a changing table in a variety of colors always punctiliously chosen: bright red, delicate violet, light gray or dark brown ... it is easy to find a hit from the wide choice.

Mimilou Stand is always joyful with animals, little stars and bubbles wall decals licately pasted on the walls and lit by beautiful paper lanterns.

Cushions and blankets with retro prints and shimmering colors filled the shelves from Petit Pan and sumptuous fabrics brought from India were covering the sofas at Lisa Corti corner.

Finally, for the parents, I particularly like the lighting in Japanese paper by Adeline Klam or made with wool from Non Jetable.
A vintage spirit for kids and Environmental concerns mixed with design for a zen decoration for the parents : all that I like!

New fall atmosphere at Bonton bazar

Last year the trendy brand Bonton, launched by the ex-owner of Bonpoint, opened a second "concept store" in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, called "the Bazar'. I visited it last summer and enjoyed the different decors.
A liberty print bedroom for girls, a soft grey for boys and the great paper lanterns by Appolline in Paris to light the house.

I also like the colorful kitchen decor.

And I have great news : a New collection of Bonton will appear this fall : Papillon by Bonton more classical with sweet cashmere, tweed for a soft winter !

This new fashion season for kids seems to be Very bohemian chic.
The september issue of French Marie-Claire magazine picked some nice pieces such as this cute white poncho from DPAM, the good cheap French brand for kids, and more high-end designers ones like Wowo or Louis Louise famous for their very parisian dresses.
It is always a pleasure to mix styles and colors together for chic but comfortable outfits for the kids.

Home sweet home in Paris

For its September issue, the French edition of Marie-Claire magazine has a special "kids book" with pretty fashion and decorating pages.
In the fashion pages, you can discover the trends of the season (post to follow)
For the kids' interior section, the journalists visited the apartment of Valerie who lives with her three children, Rose, 18, Simon, 14, and Ella, 10 years.
In this Haussmann-style apartment near the Place de la Republique in Paris, she moves the decoration according to their age while keeping some basic principles: vintage beds, hand-made furniture and walls colors who remain in the same tone for a harmonious interior.

I love the little details such as,

the lights garland that warms Ella's teddy bears,

the hand-made storage customized by the small bazaar.

I also like her shopping ideas such as the vintage bed from the parisian shop Serendipity and the post office desk ( la redoute New Collection),

the Tolix chair and the black wardrobe painted in black to be able to write on it with chalks.
That's the children part of the apartment.

For common parts, Valerie warms the atmosphere with trays of different candles,

I am still for ten days in Paris and I want to make lots of decorating ideas. I discovered the new section bienvenue chez Vous from the website of the French magazine Marie-Claire Maison: I got Plenty of ideas and inspirations in few clicks!
I selected some of the advice given by the team of the magazine to their readers, and easy to reproduce to restore life to your interior.
Above, to add a "night" section in the living-room and maintain a great circulation in the room, the sofa has been expanded and pressed against the wall in the longitudinal direction. Two shelves have been placed on each side. They act as bookshelves, day armrests and bedside tables by night.
The back of the sofa has been made with an extralarge frame covered by a piece of linen.
Beautiful linen from The sensitive and Nana Ki, a white lamp from IKEA and pillows by Nana Ki and " Caravane Chambre 19" add colors and a geat night and day atmosphere to the large bed, also used as a sofa during the day.

Above, the creation of a small and cozy reading area with a curtain, from the tissue "tie and die" brought from a travel, shelves for storing art books and Travel guides, a lamp "Cornette" from the French designers Tse & Tse, and a garland of light have been suspended for perfect lighting moments of reading.

Last clever design: an office in a corner of a living-room.

The new corner of the room is well organized and nicely colored. The vintage sign that was abandoned on the top of the old shelves is now hung on the wall just above the desk. Finally, a pink desk lamp pink (by Jieldé in Sentou gallery), a boiled wool rug (Muskhane) and a few cushions on the sofa (BHV)add an harmony of tones.

Spanish girl in Paris

Maloles creates for our greatest pleasure pretty ballerinas and shoes.
But she has another passion: design and home interior that she shares with us in the French Elle magazine this week, through a tour of her Parisian apartment.

Her Tips? Mixing old furniture and design, like the Barcelona chair, that reminds her native Spain, or an industrial suspension from Anne Jacobsen painted in white.
She also loves XL pieces such as a giant cup and the three branches lamp of Angelo Lelli.

In the hall, a sofa from the fifties allows to relax and extend the evening after a party.

In the kitchen / dining room she mixed and matched on the walls lacquer and matte paintings and blue and silver wallpaper.

Her bedroom looks like a hotel suite with a chic bathroom fully integrated into the room.
Her girls rooms mix girly colors and furniture industry. In the one of the oldest, the stripes give an elegant ambience.

Some additional decoration tips given by Maloles: take off the doors between the reception rooms, focus on low furniture and walls in neutral colors for open space and do not hesitate to mix the atmospheres.

In Paris many concept stores dedicated to children have opened.
Their purpose? First of all to be particularly successful with their own decoration. Everything is thought out in every detail.
Secondly, moms can find clothes, strollers, accessories, furniture, decoration, small presents for birthdays parties .. all good unique and very Parisian discoveries!
after the rive gauche, here is a selection of shops Rive droite.

Direction the center of Paris at Not So Big, installed in the old Halles public baths.
The idea of the place: The parme rubber ground to remember that we are in a gay and colorful place for children!

Nearby by feet, go to Merci and csao, two stores which reverse some of their profits to associations of Madagascar and Africa. At Merci you will find vintage clothes and designers for kids such as April showers, at CSAO you will find their famous plastic rug.

In the Marais district, in addition to the major brands like Muji or la chaise longue, great to find treasures for young and old, you will be able to get the famous French Bensimon tennis for you and your kids at their general store Home autour du monde... also a great place to find beautiful tableware, cushions, accessories for your interior.

Let's go to Bastille then to visit new shops such as les fleurs and Loulou addict which propose many European brands and designers in decoration.

After admiring the beautiful deco of their last two concept stores launched in Paris,

Merci et Bonton, and the parisian flat of Irene,

now a visit of the dreamy attic of the family country house, fully dedicated to the games of the grand children.
The walls are covered with magnificent trompe-l'oeil paintings,

small vintage furniture give the atmosphere of a doll house,
cabinets are full of costumes,

Vintage toys have been searched with passion,

They even installed a real small theater for performances prepared by children of the house.
A paradise for them ... and their grandparents who can let them play for hours!

Shopping in Paris, rive gauche

Bonton was the first one!
It was opened by the same family who owned the more classical brand Bonpoint.
The monumental entrance of the store sets the clothes as pieces of art on the walls.
Ages and sizes are noted on large red columns. They bring a touch of fun, practical and original decoration in this loft-style store.

The first floor is full of ideas with pretty staged kids'rooms.

The Kids gallery store is less Parisian and more influenced by Northern Europe!
You will find beautiful wooden furniture and often very well thought out as evolutionary.

At Serendipity, vintage furniture are restore and given a new life ... for unique and poetic interiors. Old beds from the fifties are mixed up with new design lamps or wall decals from Mimilou and Des pieds des Ailes!
Another Good point for the store : it is close to the Gerard Mulot bakery of my childhood for a gourmet snack!

And one of my favorite is Caoutchouc, because this is where I discovered the fabulous creations from Clemence G.
The store is in the heart of Vavin where kids'shops are multiplying!

Not to mention two new stores opened in the fifth district. : Dame Lune et Pic nidouille.
I greatly appreciated their warm welcome during my visit last summer. Their owner have created two charming places to find many French young designers for kids.

Miss Louison has grown up and her mother just redecorated her bedroom which has nothing of a girly one.

She put on the bed hand-made pillows, a small lunch box on the bedside table and cute illustrations from cosas minimas on the wall.

In Eliott and Paul-Emile' bedrooms, the decoration is also essentially home-made or vintage furniture.. giving them a unique charm!

So enjoy the flea markets and garage sales to also find treasures for your decor!

The new issue of the Australian LMNOP magazine is available on their blog.
I just love the great pictures taken by Hallie Burton of the great loft in Tribeca, in downtown Manhattan, of Hanne Larsen and a family who moved from Australia to NYC.
A ideal family home and a paradise for the four kids India (eight), Atticus (six) Arlo (four) and Banjo (18 months).
They can enjoy a great mezzanine playhouse and fun bunk beds in the boys' bedroom.

The living room offers a peaceful atmosphere and the large windows bring plenty of light. The kitchen is full of fun pink and another area for drawing, coloring, doing the homework for the kids!

In the fun kids bathroom, a grass-motif floor welcomes their feet and a sink that used to be in the kitchen has been painted in green to match.

Also enjoy in the 6th issue of the magazine, the fashion pages and especially this cute picture of this Bohemian couple.

For the part 2 of our serie on French bloggers'deco, I have chosen the bedrooms of the two kids of the blogger Madame chacha .
I love her world, the charm of the old house, small details like the suitcases Lale in her girl's bedroom, the beautiful butterfly which flies over the chandelier and the vintage cupboard in her boy bedroom.
And above all, I just love the XL tree sticker with a garland light above which gives a festive atmosphere of French villages during the Summer!

To begin our serie, here's Anouk's bedroom published on the blog of her poetic mother lilafanfreluche.
Almost everything is home made or from Africa.
The result? A charming concentrate of objects manufactured, sewn or knitted by Anouk grandmother, mum or aunt!
I particularly like the idea of small chalkboards, each with a letter of the child name.

Small summer issue

The new Small magazine issue of the summer has arrived and is available to download here.
As usual the new issue is a great pleasure to discover and read.
First, to travel in the fashion pages so lovely with great bohemian silhouettes that I love so much for children ! It makes me think of the atmosphere of the French designer Antik Batik!

Secondly, to appreciate the work of artists such as Katherine Edmond and Jess Browns, who make great hand-made dolls and their delicate costumes. "They create a beautiful balance between art and play."

Their passion? Natural processes and vintage materials such as French artists like Minilabo or Clemence G!
Their inspiration? Jess wanted the dolls to look like a french rag doll she had seen.
I think she did it!

I am also a big fan of the draws and the atmosphere of the Californian Mati Rose Mcdonough. With her draws the kids will travel in a narrative, poetic and sweet universe !

Finally to enjoy a small project : wonderful birds to create and hang up!
A good way for me to introduce a similar atmosphere than the work from Appoline in Paris im my interior in the USA!

Birds in paradise

Here are two artists that I admire and so do many French blogs and shops:
the English Abigail Brown and the American from NYC Tamar Mogendorff.

The dolls/objects are made by Tamar from linens, wool, Mohair wool, cotton, vintage fabrics, tweed, antique embroidery, pashmina and other fabrics.

Other materials used are antique and vintage buttons, beads, silver thread and old ribons. New items coming every season..

Abigail uses colour, pattern and texture and a visual language which is quirky and playful, reminiscent of a childhood that she holds very dear.

Her work with birds evolved perhaps "because not only are they one of the most beautiful of creatures, so precious, so fragile and yet so animated and so positively bursting with life, but also because they are the most accessible to me", she explains on her website.

"Whether birds, monkeys, cats or elephants, my work centres around animals because they give me comfort, they are truly heart warming, they make me smile...and that is the same reaction I hope merely to evoke in others."

The good news is that Abigail has drawn wall decals for the French brand Poisson bulle I work with... so they should arrive on Comptoir d'enfance this summer.

Spring New look

The Spring issue of the french magazine Le journal de la Maison offers great decoration ideas for a kid bedroom.
It offers some basic elements that I really like for kids interiors : paper lanterns, decorative garlands, mix and match of cushions... for a very fresh result !

Spring decoration with Milk

I already talked to you about the beautiful cover of the French Milk magazine Spring issue.
Here is a brief travel into the pages of this latest issue of Milk. I especially love the universe proposed by the co-founder Elisa of the very trendy parisian shop Serendipity, famous for the vintage furniture for kids.

Elisa imagined a poetic universe for a little girl room with vintage furniture and painted in colors of gray, black and plum. To add some touches of colors, she added few creations which I particularly like such as the Kokeshi stickers and the birdhouses from Tamar Mogendorff.

I also love this vintage atmosphere for a boy's room with a draw of New York city on the wall and a fun lamp for a futuristic ambiance.

In Madeline's bedroom design and pop bookshelves from the Conran Shop host the treasures of the child.

Finally with Stephanie Cohen the bedroom becomes a magic tree house for the princesses of the house and granddaughters of the founders of the French brands Bonpoint and Merci.
Designs, garlands and souvenirs of all kinds make a very cute home-made decoration.

La cerise sur le gateau

I already loved her collection, la cerise sur le gateau, the cherry on the cake, and now I love her apartment.
The french TV show Interieurs made a visit of her Parisian apartment this week. A place full of decoration ideas.
Anne Hubert is specialized in the art of customizing french-made household linen.
Enjoy those very girly cushions above on her sofa with fun appliques and a great mix of colors.

Her style in her collections is essentially made of : Fluorescent pink, color contrasts romantic pictures as well as girly references. We find all these details in her interior : great colors, fun ideas, home-made decorations and furniture...

Above two hand-made furniture to store linens for her creations and old magazines...

Here her desk made with an old vintage one and a new piece of wood on the top for more space to work..

And to finish with a quiet bedroom under the roof with a vintage lamp and mirror and a piece of tree trunk painted in white used as a bedside table... plenty of ideas to reproduce at hone !

During my travels on French blogs, I just felt in love for the work of Appoline in Paris.

Apolline works with a little workshop in Madagascar whose purpose is the well-being of the women of the area.
